ACMH – Albanian Community Mental Health

Research

Advancing Culturally Informed Mental Health Knowledge

In partnership with McMaster University, ACMH conducts community-based research to improve mental health outcomes for Albanian-speaking populations globally.

Our Research Focus

Closing the knowledge gap in Albanian mental health.

01

The Gap

Albanian communities have been significantly underrepresented in mental health research. Clinical tools, diagnostic criteria, and treatment protocols have largely been developed without accounting for Albanian cultural norms, history, or language.

02

Our Work

ACMH's research program addresses this gap directly, studying the mental health of Albanian individuals and communities, adapting existing tools for Albanian populations, and generating culturally specific knowledge that can improve care.

03

Our Values

Our research is community-informed, ethically grounded, and designed to produce practical benefits for the people we serve.

Our Partnership

Working with McMaster University.

ACMH conducts its research in collaboration with McMaster University, combining academic rigour with community knowledge to produce findings that are both scientifically sound and practically relevant.

Our team includes Ph.D.-level researchers, research collaborators, and clinicians who bring both scholarly expertise and lived experience to the work.
